ALL Saints Dramatic Society is busy preparing for its latest production and recruiting new members at the same time.

The Southbourne-based Society, now in its 65th year, will be putting on comedy Canvas at the De La Salle Theatre at St Peter’s School from September 18-20.

The popular organisation was founded in 1950 by Rev Clifford Davies in the All Saints church hall and its first production was The Whole Town’s Talking, staged the following year.

The Society also boasts a choir which performs and competes in the local area.

Over the years the Society has gained a reputation for high-quality, entertaining shows and is now based at the De La Salle, a 475-set tiered auditorium in the St Catherine’s Road school.

It produces four shows a year and has 70 members of varying ages, interests and abilities.

The Society’s popular pantomimes are performed in January with two plays in April and September and a patrons-only one act night in June.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings and members are keen to recruit backstage volunteers as well as performers.

Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to apply and those accepted are required to pay an annual fee of £25, £15 for students.
