THE Mayor of Poole has been treated to his own brand of beer to help fundraising for his chosen charities.

Cllr Peter Adams has teamed up with Hall and Woodhouse, based in Blandford, to create The Mayor’s Tipple, which will be exclusively available through some events run by the Mayor’s chosen charities over the coming mayoral year.

He said: “I was visiting Chestnut Nursery when I met Mark Woodhouse and I jokingly said to him that it would be great to have a beer for the Mayor of Poole.

“So he went away and came back with 200 bottles of The Mayor’s Tipple, completely free of charge to me, which we can use as gifts for raffles and for charity auctions. Mark said that he likes to do something for charity and that this would hopefully help, which was really kind.”

During his mayor-making ceremony, Cllr Peter Adams named his chosen charities which he would back during 2014/15 as YMCA (Shore Ideas), Hamworthy Scouts, and Poole Young Carers.

Andy Wing, packaging manager at Hall and Woodhouse, said: “It all started when myself and Mark Woodhouse, the company’s chairman, were at Chestnut Nursery in Poole, which we were visiting after donating £820 through our Community Chest, which they used to by a new till.

“We met the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Peter Adams, there and he said that the last Mayor liked to donate bottles of wine to charity, so it would be nice for him to do the same.”
