POLICE are appealing for information after a 16-year-old boy was ‘barked’ at and head-butted during an assault in Poole bus station.

The incident involved the teenager from Poole who was stood with a friend waiting for a bus when an unknown man ‘barked’ at the boy aggressively for seemingly no reason.

When the victim asked what the man was doing, the suspect head-butted the boy and ran off toward the service road by the Dolphin shopping centre.

Dorset Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to following the assault, which happened on Sunday, June 8, at around 2.20pm.

PC Simon Young from Poole Police said that the boy sustained a small cut to his face as a result of the attack.

He added: “I urge the man pictured, or anyone who recognises him, to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 8:220 or call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.

Why the delay? It happened on the 8th June, and it's now 28th July. Doesn't make sense that the public aren't informed about this apparently crazy idiot before now.

Agree. I'm not sure what the answer to the problems that Poole bus station presents. Tearing it down & putting up another bus station in it's place probably isn't the solution since it will still, in all likelihood, be frequented by the same gobsh!te teenagers with nothing to do as it is now.
It reminds me very much of the Wembley High Road I remember from my childhood - stinks of p!ss, chewing gum & cigarette ends all over the place.
Not that I'm condoning what the chap in the CCTV image has done, but I doubt it was unprovoked - it's a fairly intimidating place to be. I don't know what it is about teenagers now - give them a bus stop & they'll congregate at it!

Casualty is packed at this time of year with asthma attacks from the pollution. Most Poolites would gladly swap the car for the bus if the bus station had security, was cleaned and banned people who drop litter, smoke and drink alcohol. The CCTV doesn't provide any security whatsever as this story show. Over a month later to get the picture to the newspaper isn't exactly going to make the 98% of people in Poole who don't go near the place feel very safe.
Poole council's attitude to bus users is appalling, they just think of bus passengers as chavs/peasants/poor white trash who don't know any better than this dump. They actually think the homes of people who use buses are this filthy and violent.

My daughter is only a few months younger than this boy and I would be horrified if she was assaulted in this way, as I'm sure this boy's parents were.
Random attacks like this are not trivial.
