1) Bournemouth Carnival

Monday sees the first day of Bournemouth Carnival and there is no shortage of fun to be had! There will be a sand building competition, a treasure hunt, a chalk drawing competition and duck racing in Bourne Stream! Impress the judges with your sandcastle skills or seek out the treasure, this will be a fun day for families! Alum Chine Beach, events will be held from 11am - 5pm. bournemouthcarnival.info

2) Onstage at Pier Approach

Nearly a month full of free live events starts on Monday evening with a performance from Ratrace. With no entry fee this is open to everyone of all ages. Come and dance along to the music at 7:30pm on Bournemouth Pier

3) Medieval Village at Corfe Castle

The village, with Knight and Damsel Academy, will throw you back in time to the 14th and 15th Century. A family day out which is both educational and fun is a great way to spend a summer's day out. Meet a knight in shining armour or a damsel in distress at this activity-packed event open from Monday until the 31st August. 10am - 5pm. There is no event fee but normal admission charges to the castle apply. 

4) Kids Family Fun Festival

Starting Monday, a month of daily kid's entertainment will be happening in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens. Monday will present 'Krazy Kev,' performing his amazing magic show with live rabbits. The entertainment runs at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm every day. 0845 051 1700

5) Swanage Carnival week

Today is Dorset Day and there's an Arts & Crafts Fair, bowls drive, Go Kart grand prix, putting tournament, Swanage Bay swim and lots of live music. 

6) The Big Den Build

Come and get amongst the wildlife on Brownsea Island as their outdoor team show you the best way to build a shelter for outdoors, using only nature's materials. Why not stop off for some fish and chips on Poole Quay afterwards? Event times are 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm. Gates open at 10am and the last departure from the island is at 5pm. brownseaisland@nationaltrust.org.uk. 

7) Become a nature detective at Lepe Park

Visit the New Forest's beautiful waterside with perfect views of the Isle of Wight. Take to the nature trail and discover the wildlife in a session held at 1pm, meeting point at the entrance to the park. 

8) Discover Chesil Beach

On Monday a guide will be giving a special tour of the magnificent Chesil beach in Weymouth. Discover how the beach was formed and find out about all the history behind the beautiful scenery that is there now. 11am - 1pm. Meeting at Chesil Beach Centre.
