A LARGE police search of Wareham Forest has taken place amid “grave concerns” for the safety of a missing Poole man who suffers from a heart condition.

Alan Allgood was last seen dropping a pal off at work on Wallisdown Road at 12.50pm on Tuesday lunchtime.

Just over an hour later the 65-year-old sent a text message to this friend indicating, police say, that he was upset and may come to harm.

Mr Allgood, who suffers with angina, does not have any medication with him. Police said he’ll need his treatment as soon as possible.

An extensive search was carried out in the Wareham Forest area, that included dog units, the police helicopter and the Dorset Search and Rescue and Wessex 4x4 voluntary search organisations.

The search was called off this afternoon with Mr Allgood still missing.

Inspector Steve White, of Dorset Police, said: “Everyone who knows Alan is very worried about him and would like to find him as soon as possible.

“Alan suffers from angina and has not got his medication with him. He is likely to be experiencing chest pain at this time and will need his treatment as soon as possible.”

The inspector said enquires led them to believe Alan was in the vicinity of Wareham Forest or the surrounding area.

Mr White stressed: “I ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of Alan, or Alan himself, to make contact with someone – we just need to know you are safe and well.”

Alan is white, five feet eleven inches tall, slim build, clean shaven with black hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue and white polo shirt and beige coloured jeans.

He was also driving his silver Vauxhall Omega car, registration number A16 ACA, when he was last seen.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
