Back in the olden days, when deluded people believed in god, they would have thought these storms and thunder and lightening were him getting angry about the behaviour of the Dorset residents.

We now know that thunder is the sound caused by lightning. Depending on the distance and nature of the lightning, thunder can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble (brontide). The sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. In turn, this expansion of air creates a sonic shock wave, similar to a sonic boom, which produces the sound of thunder, often referred to as a clap, crack, or peal of thunder. The distance of the lightning can be calculated by the listener based on the time interval from when the lightning is seen to when the sound is heard.

So, have a nice evening and sleep soundly my fellow Infidels.

I think the met office should stop annoying us with their false predictions, I haven't seen or heard anything like torrential downpours, thunder or lightening today, their predictions are about the same as the climate change monkeys.

The picture of the flooding at Charlton marshall on the A350 is due to a total lack of road gulley maintenance and this floods with the slightest bit of rain its just down to Dorset,s 3rd World road maintenance and lack of workers with a shovel.
