OVER-running roadworks were the source of frustration for motorists on the Bournemouth and Poole border this morning.

Southern Gas Networks began working on a leaking gas main in Wallisdown Road last night, having agreed with the council to carry out the work at a quiet time to minimise disruption, a spokesman said.

The leak was repaired on Wednesday night, but the Tarmac was not laid until this morning and needed time to harden before the road could be fully reopened.

Drivers reported long delays in all directions while the temporary lights were being used.

Claire Buchanan, a spokesman for Southern Gas Networks, said: “Our repair works on Wallisdown Road have been completed and the temporary traffic lights have been removed. We would like to thank road users for their patience while we carried out this essential work.”

action not talk says...

To the driver of the blue peugot who decided this morning at 7.15 to jump the queue waiting on the red light and drive at high speed through the roadworks ignoring the Walton contractor trying a flag him to stop i have a simple message
You nearly caused a fatal accident as cyclists came the opposite direction on the green light
I made a note of your registration number and also noted your driving down to TOWER park and this has been passed to the police !!
