PLANS for a new solar farm in east Dorset will go on display today.

The proposals, which could see a new farm on a 20-hectare site at Bedborough Farm in Uddens Drive, Wimborne, will be shown at St Michael’s Church Centre in Colehill from 4.30pm until 8pm.

Members of the public are invited to view the plans and give feedback.

If given the green light, the development – designed by Solstice Renewables in Wiltshire – will provide enough renewable energy to supply 3,000 homes.

Company director Giovanni Maruca said: “Bedborough Farm is a great site for a solar park as it will be well screened from the surrounding area.

“The site is low-grade land, which offers exciting opportunities for biodiversity improvement.

“We’re looking forward to meeting as many members of the local community as possible, and welcome their suggestions.”

The company will provide a community benefit fund of £10,000 a year for the solar park’s life if the plans are given the go-ahead.
