Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood has been made a Foreign Office junior minister.
Mr Ellwood becomes Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with responsibility for policy on North America, the Middle East and North Africa.
He will be working with Philip Hammond, who was moved from the Ministry of Defence in the reshuffle to replace William Hague as Foreign Secretary.
Mr Ellwood said; "I am delighted and honoured to be joining Philip Hammond in the Foreign Office with responsibility for North America, the Middle East and North Africa.
"Recent events in these regions will certainly make this a challenging new role, but I am looking forward to getting started and working with the Foreign Office to develop our relationships and policy in these regions."
