A horrific road crash and damage to the Sandbanks ferry led to long delays for drivers in Dorset this morning.
The A35 was closed for more than four hours, leading to long queues around the Wareham area.
The closure, between Morden Park Corner and the Bloxworth junction, was in place from 6.15am until 10.40am after a car careered off the road and struck a tree.
Traffic was already busier than usual because the Sandbanks ferry was not running due to a snapped chain, believed to have been caused by the Barfleur ferry.
Motorists reported taking an hour to travel from Sandford to Wareham as drivers looked for alternative routes during the rush hour.

Rail passengers also suffered delays from Poole to London Waterloo due to a signalling problem at Southampton Central station. Trains are now running normally.
