The people who run the Sandbanks ferry's Twitter account have just said the chain ferry won't be operating until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest: 


Our traffic feed is reporting the A31 at Almer is partially blocked due to a broken down caravan between B3075 (Spetisbury Turn Off) and A350 Poole Road (Roundhouse Roundabout).

We've had this picture back from one of our photographers of the travellers on Kinson Common. At around 7pm last night around six caravans, along with other vehicles, got on to the common, off Poole Lane. It is thought that the gate to the site was forced open. Security officers have now been put in place at the site. Full story here

The Sandbanks Ferry people say it was the Barfleur that snapped their chain this morning, putting the ferry out of action until further notice. Brittany Ferries say "it's not definitive, but certainly the chain broke when the Barfleur was passing." Full story here.


Just had news that eight of those arrested in the National Crime Association crackdown on child abuse and child abuse images were from Dorset. We're updating the story now.


Richard has just tweeted this picture of the tailbacks on the Bere Regis to Wareham road following the earlier serious accident on the A35


We've just heard from our photographer Richard who says the A35 has been re-opened although the traffic around Wareham is still extremely busy.

We're being told that it will take at least an hour to get from Sandford to Wareham because of the weight of traffic.


We've just been sent this picture of a traveller camp at Kinson Common.

Reporters at the A35 crash say it's gridlock around Wareham because of the road closure and the Sandbanks ferry being out of action.

Dorset Police say the road will be closed for at least another hour.


The accident was a single vehicle accident involving a man from the Poole area, the police have told us. He suffered extensive but not thought to be life threatening injuries and was taken to the trauma ward at Southampton by helicopter.
