TWO women were rushed to hospital this afternoon following a crash on the Wessex Way.

A 16-year-old girl and a 57-year-old woman, both believed to be from the Ringwood area, were taken to Poole Hospital following the single-vehicle collision at around 3pm.

One suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Earlier this afternoon, traffic was at a standstill along the main road, and one lane was closed northbound.

However, although there are holds ups between the Blackwater junction and the Ashley Heath Interchange, both lanes have now reopened.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Two women were travelling northbound on the A338 when their Ford KA left the road and ended up in a ditch.

"Both occupants were taken to Poole Hospital."

She said one lane of the carriageway was closed to allow the emergency services to assist.
