Where’s Wally? Popular character spotted all over Upton

Bournemouth Echo: FOUND HIM!: School council representatives from Upton Infant School discover Where’s Wally FOUND HIM!: School council representatives from Upton Infant School discover Where’s Wally

THE world traveller in the distinctive red and white striped shirt, bobble hat and glasses has been intriguing residents of Upton.

Wally, the elusive character from the popular Where’s Wally? books, has been spotted in shops and at the post office, on top of a building site and all around town all week.

Members of the school council from Upton Infant School tracked him down to the Jubilee Gardens in Dorchester Road but soon he was off on his travels again and was later spotted at nearby Upton Junior School.

“He has been appearing at different locations all around Upton,” said Dan Williams, deputy head teacher at the infant school.

“There have been a lot of questions and phone calls about him. He caused a lot of excitement in the Spar.”

Coincidently the theme of the infant school’s entry in Upton and Lytchett Minster Carnival today is Where’s Wally?

Eighty or so youngsters aged four to seven will be dressing up as the character, created by illustrator Martin Handford, on the float which will wend its way around Upton, leaving Factory Road at 1pm and arriving at the recreation ground at 2.15pm.

The procession will go along Poole Road to Dorchester Road, down Moorland Way to Sandy Lane and up Sea View Road to the rec where there will be live bands, children’s entertainment, stalls and demonstrations.

By then the youngsters are hoping to have secured the life size cardboard cut out and put him in his rightful place on their float.
