THE MAYOR of Poole is holding a fun family festival in honour of his chosen charities on Sandbanks Beach this weekend.

Cllr Peter Adams, who started his mayoral year on May 15, is inviting people to come along to the Mayor of Poole’s Beach Festival on Sunday, July 13.

It takes place the day after The Asahi British Beach Polo Championships, running on July 11 and 12, and will use the same areas as the polo will use, based on the sands from 11am to 4pm.

Cllr Peter Adams says that there will be a host of fun family entertainment to enjoy, including fairground rides, live music, five-a-side football games and stalls.

He added: “We will have teacup rides, bungee fun, bouncy castle, hog roast, an eight-seater gig boat, activities from Hamworthy Outdoor Education Centre, at least 15 stalls, a bar and refreshments.

“We will also have music from the Dorset Wreckers and a Frank Sinatra tribute act, dancing from GJ Cabaret, as well as a dance floor for people to use while listening to the music.

“It’s all about the families, and should be a great day out for all ages.”

The aim, Cllr Peter Adams says, is to raise as much money as possible for the Mayor’s Charities, which are YMCA (Shore Ideas), Hamworthy Scouts and Poole Young Carers.

Admission is £2 per adult, £1 per child and £5 for a family ticket. Anyone interested in exhibiting at the event should contact Cllr Peter Adams on 01202 742344.
