STAFF at home improvement firm Apple showed off their happy sides as they filmed a viral video for the company’s website.

Dozens of workers from the company’s Bournemouth, Parley and Hurn sites sang and danced along to Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ on the first day of filming.

Everyone from fitters, telesales, administrators and IT staff were involved in the video, which aims to show the human face of the rapidly expanding company.

There are 68 lines in the chart hit and so 68 different workers or groups of workers took one line each, using props including a Harley Davidson motorbike and a bath full of balloon ‘bubbles.’ Once completed, the video will go on their website to entertain prospective customers.

Operations manager Andrew Downes said: “Our director Scott (Hill) loves his karaoke and he loves this song and he just wanted to do something fun that all our sites could get involved in.

“It’s something uplifting to get the staff involved in for the summer, it’s just a bit of fun and puts a human face to the company. We’ve got a lot of young, buoyant staff and it’s in our interests to keep them happy and ensure a good atmosphere.

“This is now a multi-million pound company and sometimes it’s hard to find the time just to have a bit of fun.”

The company, which has its head office at Bournemouth Airport, employs around 500 staff and has sites stretching from Exeter to Kingston-Upon-Thames.

It has traditionally focused on doors, windows and conservatories but has expanded to offer extensions, loft conversions and renewable energy projects.

Once completed, the video will be on their website applehomeimprovements.com
