A MAN was taken to hospital after ingesting water when he fell from a sailing dinghy.

Portland Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre on Weymouth harbourside were called at 3.10pm today with a report of a man in the water close to Durdle Door in Purbeck.

Coastguards said the man had fallen from the dinghy and ingested some water.

Weymouth Inshore Lifeboat was tasked to go and rescue the man. They got him out of the water and took him to shore where an ambulance was waiting.

Coastguards said the man had been in the water for a little while, was very cold and had ingested water, so was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
