THE leader of Bournemouth council has added his backing to efforts to support independent business today.
Independents’ Day, now in its fourth year, celebrates the value of independently owned businesses to the economy.
Members of the public are being asked to buy at least one item from a local business today, with posters and a Facebook page promoting special offers for the occasion.
Bournemouth council leader Cllr John Beesley said: "The borough of Bournemouth supports the nationwide initiative Independents’ Day for retailers and recognises that small and independent businesses are invaluable to Bournemouth and its trading districts and high streets.
“Being in a tourist town, our independent retailers add that unique offer and specialism that sets them apart. This is a great opportunity for small retailers to promote their business and maximise sales.”
