WINTON Carnival, which has grown into one of Bournemouth’s biggest community events, is expected to draw big crowds tomorrow.

The procession and fair has enjoyed good weather every single year it has been held and organisers are hoping to continue that lucky streak.

The day will start at 10.45am with a grand parade along Wimborne Road. This will start at the junction with Calvin Road and go down Wimborne Road, Cardigan Road and Maxwell Road before ending up at the recreation ground.

It will feature Winton’s many community groups and charity organisations as well as bands and children’s characters and spectators are urged to pay special attention to the parade as, for the first time, they will be asked to vote for their favourite carnival entrant.

Votes will be polled at carnival headquarters at the recreation ground and MP Conor Burns will present trophies to the winner and runner-up at 4pm.

This year the events on the recreation ground will be spread out over two sites. There will be a dance arena featuring up and coming performers and a community area offering health checks, bike tagging and dog chipping.

There will also be a large funfair, rides, inflatables and mechanical horses. And there will be plenty of free children’s entertainment including music sessions, balloon modelling and puppet shows.

Anyone who could help marshal the event should contact 07774 754555. All marshals will receive a gift pack containing food vouchers and ride tokens.
