A ROAD in central Bournemouth was closed following a collision between a motorbike and a car.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service confirmed it received a call at 2.54pm following reports of the incident on Oxford Road, near the ASDA superstore on St Paul’s Road.

He added that an ambulance attended and the motorcyclist was treated for minor head injuries at the scene.

He was not required to go to hospital.

A spokesperson for Dorset police said it was called at 2.57pm to the incident, which involved a Vauxhall Corsa registered to a woman in Christchurch and a Yamaha motorcycle registered to a man from Bournemouth.

As I have said before cars should be allowed to use the underpass under the duel carriageway onto Lansdowne Road this would clear some of the traffic from the station and Asda. It should not just be for buses and taxis, we all pay road fund licence and have the same right to use all the roads. Just because people pay to use a bus or taxi why should they have extra rights?

Oxford Road is NOT off the rounderbout, it is where the tax office, St Pauls Night shelter and other offices are so the above comments don't really make sense :) But I do aggree that the road you mistook it for is a nightmare!

Exactly. There is a little roundabout at one end which I would not really call 'The worst roundabout in Dorset'.

If everyone on the bus lost that minor advantage then they'd ALL be in cars, adding to the already ludicrous traffic you're such a keen part of.

I am talking about the roundabout at Asda and the road leading up to it is a nightmare in my opinion!
