HUNDREDS of people flocked to Bournemouth Beach today as temperatures reached 25 degrees - even hotter than Brazil.

That makes it the hottest day for the region this year with temperatures reaching 25.7 degrees C.

Freya Johnson and her two-year-old daughter Kyla headed to Bournemouth Beach to make the most of the sunshine.

Mrs Johnson said: “This is our first trip to the beach this year.

“We have been looking at the forecast all week thinking about coming down and today we finally decided to do it. It’s been lovely.”

Alejandro Ortiz from Purbeck Ice Cream on Pier Approach said the good weather had provided a boost for business.

He said: “We’ve sold 953 ice creams since 9.30am this morning. It’s usually busier at the weekends but today has been very busy because of the good weather.”

The sunshine is due to continue throughout the weekend but temperatures are expected to drop to the low 20s.

The spokesman said: “It’s certainly going to be dry for the next few days.

“On Friday, until late afternoon, there will be glorious sunshine but it will start to cloud-up at around 4pm.

She continued: “Saturday again it’s glorious sunshine and on Sunday there’s more sunshine in the morning but it might cloud-up a little in the afternoon.”
