A CAR has overturned on the busy A338 Spur Road.

No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the accident, which led to one lane of the southbound carriageway being closed.

The grey Ford Focus involved is registered to a woman from Ferndown.

An ambulance attended but the driver suffered only minor scratches.

I was stuck in that traffic in hideous heat. Glad the driver is okay! Unless there was a fault with the car the question needs to be asked - how does someone lose control on a straight bit of road and end up upside down in a ditch!

Funny thing cars. All the safety features now built in at great expense, and they still seem to have a liking for flipping over onto their backs. And the millions paid out these days in compensation for 'whip lash' injuries, when the fitting of head restraints in all cars was made compulsory to prevent those very same injuries!
