THREE Christchurch beaches – among six locally – have been recognised for their high standards in Keep Britain Tidy’s Seaside Awards.

Avon Beach, Friars Cliff and Highcliffe have all won the award which rewards those with the highest standards of beach management, alongside Swanage Central and Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers.

Cllr Margaret Phipps, porfolio holder for the environment at Christchurch Council, said: “We know that our residents, holiday-makers and day trippers want to visit clean, safe beaches and the sight of the Seaside Award flying gives them the reassurance that they will.”
