TWO more artists have been recruited to record life on the buses in Bournemouth.

Yellow Buses has enlisted the ‘artists in residence’ and is looking for more.

Anita Lawrence and Jan Roe are following in the footsteps of Denise Poote, who was the first to gain a residency with the Yellows’ fleet in January.

They have been using Glo smart cards to travel separately around Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch recording the characters and sights they see.

At the end of the year, an exhibition will showcase the work created by a variety of artists.

Jan said: “For me it’s about looking at the characters.

“I teach visual studies for animators so it’s about movement, different perspectives, story-telling and how people negotiate space.”

Anita said: “I try to remember the colours because I add to some of the art later on, and I look at the shapes in an abstract way.

“I’d encourage anyone to sketch as they travel.”

Both artists said they had enjoyed speaking to the passengers and are working on completing their project.

Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses’ head of marketing, said: “This project has become enormously popular, not just with the artists but with the passengers.

“Each artist has a different style and it’s fascinating to see how each of them interprets what they see.

“Now we want to hear from more artists and would encourage them to get in touch if they want a residency and be part of the project.”
