World Cup 2014: Will Spain bounce back in clash with Chile today?
AFTER their disastrous result in their first match against the Netherlands, Spain will be looking to get back on track in their second Group B game today.
Kicking off at 8pm, it won’t be an easy task, with their opponents Chile buzzing on the back of their 3-1 win against Australia last Friday.
And the Aussies are bound to be fearing the Dutch in their 5pm game after they hammered Spain 5-1 in a repeat of the 2010 final.
Holland were in scintillating form, sweeping aside the nation that beat them to lift the trophy four years ago.
Half-Spanish Darren Rodriguez, who lives in Bournemouth, said: “Well, after the unexpected tonking we got against the Dutch, the media have been full of whether the ‘tiki taka’ period of success we've had is over.
“The Dutch played very well but Spain were awful, especially in defence.
“Ramos, Pique and Casillas, the backbone for so many years, creaked like an old barn door. It could have been Casillas last game perhaps?
“Xavi looked old and costa up front didn't do anything to warrant his place.
“I feel (manager) Del Bosque may make changes, especially as Pedro, Fabregas, Mata, and Cazorla were all on the bench. Still fancy Spain to bounce back, a 1-0 win is my prediction.”
The day ends with the Group A encounter between Cameroon and Croatia at 11pm, with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats to Mexico and Brazil respectively in their first matches.
