AN inspirational teenage cancer sufferer from Bournemouth is bidding for chart success with his latest charity campaign.

Chandos Green, 19, of Windham Road, was first diagnosed with a golf ball-sized brain tumour aged three and again at six.

Last week he received the heartbreaking news that after more than 12 years of being in remission, the tumour is growing again.

However, the youngster is determined to use the diagnosis as a positive force and add more to the funds he has already raised by organising the release of a single in aid of Southampton General Hospital, where he has been treated.

“For the last three or four months I started having headaches and dizzy spells again,” said Chandos. “Everything just became twice as hard. I’m not too sure what will happen next.”

The Chichester University student, currently home for the summer, has received £2,500 support from the O2 Think Big project.

Inspired by music throughout his life, he recruited rising singing star Georgia Flatman to help him write the charity song, called I Fight For, after being put in touch with her by her sister Rebecca at university.

Chandos said he is grateful for the help of Georgia, who went to the same music college as international sensation Ed Sheeran, and hopes to inspire more people to get involved.

“Music has always been so important to me. I remember being in hospital, hearing music, and feeling the pain drift away,” he added.

“For this project my message is to say we can all work together. We all have different skills, different abilities, but we work best when we are all together. Everyone always has something they can contribute.”

The song is almost complete and Chandos hopes there will be an accompanying promotional video and his message of hope and positivity can spread when it is released in July or August.
