TWO crews of fire fighters were called to extinguish a dung heap on fire in Ferndown this afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted at around 12pm, with reports of the blaze at a farm in Longham, which happened due to a controlled burn nearby.
On-call fire fighters from Ferndown and a second fire engine from Wimborne attended the scene and used a mainline hose to extinguish the bonfire, before damping down the dung heap to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The fire was out by 12.50pm.
