A HOTEL dating from Victorian times has been re-launched as a boutique destination after a refurbishment.

The Cliff House Hotel was built in the 1880s and has been a family home and a boys’ school in its time.

It was extensively renovated and rebuilt in 2003 in a project designed to see it through the coming years.

The hotel was bought last year by owner and managing director Andrew Gosling, who saw it as a natural progression from his catering and events company Food Show Ltd. The bar, lounge and gardens were all given a makeover ahead of its re-launch last week.

Mr Gosling said: “Each of our 14 en suite light and airy rooms has been individually and sympathetically designed in order to be an inviting oasis of calm, while still showcasing the historic charm and character of the 19th century former homestead.”

General manager Tim Seward has 20 years’ experience in catering and hospitality.

Mr Gosling added: “We both believe in not just meeting but exceeding expectations and are dedicated to making the Cliff House Hotel experience an exceptional one.”
