AN 82-YEAR-OLD woman from Bournemouth is to cruise down the River Rhine after winning more than £2,000 in a Daily Echo competition.

Anne Fraley won the runner-up prize for “nearest miss” in Find the Ball, which appears in the Daily Echo and three of its sister papers every Saturday.

The mother-of-three, who won £2,200, said, “It was a lovely surprise.”

“I have been living here for 14 years and have played the competition ever since. I’ve won £15 prizes before but nothing this big.”

Mrs Fraley will holiday in Germany later this year and plans to give some money to her sister. She will save the rest for a rainy day.

She said: “I have booked to go on holiday with a friend. We are going to Cologne and then we are getting a boat down the River Rhine.

“I will share some of it with my sister in Southampton.”

The pensioner plans to continue entering the competition.

She said: “I don’t know if lightning will strike twice but it’s definitely come at the right time.”

The competition appears in the Bournemouth Daily Echo and three other Newsquest titles every week. For your chance to win pick up a copy of Saturday’s paper.
