A POOLE man is holding a charity swimming competition in the hope of raising £10,000 for a local leukaemia cause.

Paul Stacey, who runs Fix IT Computer Services, is looking for teams of four to take part in the ‘Swimathon’, on Saturday, June 21, after organising a spin cycling event last November, which made £3,000 for Children in Need.

Now Paul hopes to raise over triple that amount for The Leaf Charity, which funds research and support for people with leukaemia.

He said: “Following on from the huge success of the Children in Need Spinathon last November, I wanted to put on another bigger event.

“This time, I wanted to reward a local charity that I have had the pleasure of working for, by assisting them with their IT needs, which is The Leaf Charity at Pamphill.

“With swimming being my second passion to cycling, what better way to raise money than by organising and participating in an event that I enjoy.

“We have arranged to have full use of the Rossmore pool from 2pm to 6pm, which will be split into six lanes.

“Each session will last 50 minutes, so we can accommodate a massive 96 entrants.”
