THE final line-up has been announced for the 10th anniversary of Bourne Free.

Bournemouth’s LGBT Pride Festival will take place from July 11-13 and promises fun for all the family.

Former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, DJ Big Ben from Phats and Small, Misha B and Damage will top the bill and there will be dozens of other performers including dancers and tribute acts.

The opening night will feature an open air, big screen showing of The Wizard of Oz and a parade will take place through the town from 11am the following day.

Entertainment will take place at the Bandstand in the Gardens and at the Triangle. The event is run by a team of trustees who are now appealing for volunteers to help things run smoothly. Tickets are also available online.

The first Bourne Free events was organised in 2004 when a far right organisation was due to visit Bournemouth to preach that homo¬sexuality was wrong.

A day of celebration was organised which included entertainers, a bal¬loon release and a two-minute silence for victims of hate crime.

It was so successful that organisers decided to repeat the event annually and its popularity has increased over the years.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Decades’ and Trustee Chris Ashton said: “We are expecting some great ideas from the community in designs for the venues, floats for the parade and for people’s costumes.”

Fellow Trustee Louise Clarke added: “We have some great new entertainment lined up for this year and we think the crowd will be pleased.”

Chairman Pete Lovegrove said tickets are only needed for the Saturday night entertainment at the Triangle.

He said: “We estimate that between 2,000 and 4,000 people watch the parade and we are doing our best to make it different this year.”
