TELEVISION’S The Voice star Sally Barker is the latest addition to the bill at this summer’s Purbeck Folk Festival.
Sally, who has six albums to her name and has toured with Bob Dylan and Robert Plant, was founding member of all female folk act The Poozies.
Festival director Paul Burke said: “There I was, thinking what a fantastic line-up we had, all complete, no space left on the bill.
“Then an email arrived from Sally Barker. I have loved her singing for a long time and voted for her on The Voice.”
Sally made it all the way to the final of the BBC show and left all four judges with tears in their eyes.
A festival spokesman said: “She (Sally) jumped at the chance to play at Purbeck alongside previously announced headliners Turin Brakes, Eddi Reader, Lloyd Cole, The South, Nipolzi, Chris Wood and Idlewild Acoustic.”
Running over the bank holiday weekend, August 21-24, on the 600 acre Wilkswood Farm, near Swanage, the Purbeck Folk Festival promises four days of fine music, great food, fancy dress, arts and crafts, film and magic.
