THE stepson of nurse Rui Li has been charged with assisting an offender.

The development follows the announcement on Saturday night that Rui’s husband, Pierre Legris had been charged with her murder.

The latest charge is against Jonathan Legris, aged 26, who has been bailed by police and will appear before Bournemouth Magistrates on June 17.

Dorset Police said: “A 26-year-old Bournemouth man, Jonathan Legris, Rui Li’s stepson has been charged with assisting an offender.

“This followed consultation with Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor John Montague of the Crown Prosecution Service who authorised the charge in relation to the death of Rui Li.”

The statement added that the police “very much want to hear from anyone who may have any information about what happened to Rui Li."

It went on: “In particular we would like anyone with information about the movements of two vehicles – a silver Fiat Punto with registration plate W887 PDL and a large white Ford Transit van with registration plate Y491 GFT – between Saturda May 24 and Wednesday May 28 to contact police on 101.

Police said late on Saturday that Pierre Legris, 60, had been charged with murder and would be appearing before Bournemouth magistrates on Monday.

The body of Rui Li, a 44-year-old nurse at Poole Hospital, was found in the boot of a Fiat Punto parked on Verwood Crescent, Bournemouth, on Friday evening, May 30.

She was reported missing on Tuesday May 27 and was last seen leaving work at 6.17pm on Friday May 23.

Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place.

Anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101 quoting Operation Timekeeper or incident log 258 of May 28 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
