A MAN was taken to hospital after a car collided with trees near Bere Regis in the middle of the night.

At around 1.40am emergency services were called to the A35 near Woodbury Cross.

A spokesman from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle had left the road and collided with trees leaving the driver trapped inside. 

The casualty was cut free using specialist cutting equipment and was taken to hospital via ambulance.

A spokesman from South Western Ambulance Service said: “We took a man in his early 20s to Dorchester Hospital.

“He was complaining of pains in his hip and his leg.”
