WILDLIFE enthusiast Kate Humble is urging Bournemouth residents to swap their buckets and spades for black bags and litter pickers during a mass beach clean at Hengistbury Head.

The TV presenter will be rallying the troops during the “barefoot friendly” beach tidy-up on June 6.

Barefoot Wine, who are working in conjunction with the environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage, have organised the event as part of a nationwide campaign to clean up 14 British beaches.

The Animal Park and Springwatch presenter said she was delighted to be part of the campaign.

She said: “We are extremely lucky to have such beautiful beaches in our country. It’s only right we do what we can to create coastal communities that exist in harmony with nature.

“I have always been passionate about the environment and this is exactly why I jumped at the chance to become the ambassador for the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.”

Yona Ellis, Barefoot Wine marketing manager, said: “Barefoot Wine is proud to be working with Kate Humble for the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.

“Her support is sure to inspire the Bournemouth community to pull together and help make Hengistbury Head ‘barefoot friendly’. Our very own Barefooters will also be there to give a helping foot, and of course offering a celebratory glass of Barefoot Wine after the clean up.”

The clean-up will take place from 2pm and 5pm on Friday, June 6, at Hengistbury Head.
