A GROUP of Royal Marines taking part in a 1,664km fundraising run passed through Poole and Bournemouth yesterday.
The elite unit was founded in 1664 and to mark their 350th anniversary a group of six have been taking on a string of 1664-themed endurance challenges.
It began in February with them skiing 1,664km through Norway, before sailing 1,664 nautical miles to Cadiz, cycling back to the north of France and kayaking for 30 hours across the English Channel.
The campaign, backed by Man of Steel star Henry Cavill, aims to raise £500,000 to help wounded marines and their families.
