ARMED police raided a home in Springbourne this morning after receiving information relating to drugs.
Several units carried out the raid at Cleveland Road at around 8.30am.
A police spokesman confirmed that a warrant had been executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act and armed officers were used to help with gaining entry.
Residents watched on as the raid was carried out and a sniffer dog was used to search the home.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “There’s been a lot of coming and going in the last few months and it’s blatant what’s been going on.
“I’ve got kids and I don’t want things like that happening near where I live.”
The police said the raid was part of an ongoing operation targeting the supply of controlled drugs in the area.
A quantity of controlled drugs were located and seized and a 42-year-old local man has been assisting officers with their enquiries, although he has not been arrested.
PC Mike Taylor-Parsons, the Safer Neighbourhood Officer for Springbourne, said: “The supply of controlled drugs together with associated anti social behaviour will not be tolerated.
“I've listened to the concerns of the local community and responded with a 'day of action' in this particular area. I would encourage anyone with any information on individuals concerned in the supply of controlled substances to contact Dorset Police to enable us to take positive action.”
Sgt Chris Amey, the Partnership and Regeneration Officer for Boscombe, added: “We have a clear focus on reducing crime and anti-social behaviour across the whole of the Bournemouth East Section.
“We have identified and are actively targeting the most problematic individuals who think it is acceptable to openly deal drugs, beg, street drink and act in an anti social manner.
“Using existing legislation and working in partnership with other agencies and volunteer organisations, we are determined to eradicate this behaviour. The Safer Neighbourhood Teams will continue to conduct a number of similar initiatives over the coming weeks.”
