A TEAM of snippers at Castlepoint are in training for a fundraising bike ride this summer.

Helen A’Court and her team of hair stylists at the shopping centre are planning to boost funds for the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride in July.

They will be holding a special charity day on Sunday, June 8, where all proceeds from bookings will be donated to the fund.

As well as the special fundraising day, Helen and five of her team will be getting on their bikes for the 26th annual Macmillan ride on Sunday, July 6.

Bill Riddle, operations manager at Castlepoint, who will also be in the ride for the third consecutive year, says that he hopes that Helen and her team will receive much support from customers, friends and families.

“To offer to donate a whole day’s proceeds, and participate in the ride is exceptionally generous,” said Bill who himself raised over £2,500 in the previous cycle events.

Raising money for people living with cancer, the ride is organised and run entirely by volunteers, so all the sponsorship funds go directly to the charity.

This year’s event was launched by cricketing legend David Gower from the plush surroundings of Sunseeker’s flagship luxury 155 Yacht in March. The former England captain has been supporting the Daily Echo-backed charity event for several years.

The ride offers a numbers of different distances for participants.

There are five circular routes on offer, starting in Corfe Mullen, including a 25-mile, 38, 48, 68, and the challenging Macmillan Dorset 100 miles.

The charity ride attracts around 800 cyclists, and has raised more than £1million for Macmillan Cancer Support.
