Police hunt rapist after woman attacked in Bournemouth town centre
DETECTIVES in Bournemouth are hunting a rapist who attacked a woman in the town centre.
Officers yesterday publicised the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, May 11.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman, spent the night at the Lola Lo club, Richmond Hill, until around 2.30am.
A police spokesman said that, after leaving the club, the victim “found herself in a residential area of the town having been subjected to a serious sexual assault”.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roberts, of Bournemouth CID, said: “The victim found herself in a very distressing situation and sustained cuts and bruises.
“I am now in a position to release CCTV footage of a man I would like to speak to who kindly helped the victim in the area outside of Lola Lo at about 3.10am. He might have vital information about the incident that can assist with the investigation.”

He is described as white, of stocky build and has dark hair. The man was wearing a suit-style jacket, a shirt without a collar and possibly jeans and dark shoes. He was holding something in his hand, which may have been takeaway food.
DS Roberts added: “I am appealing for anyone who may be able to give me information about the victim’s movements between 2.30am and 5.30am.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 11:224. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
A 19-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of sexual offences and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
