A POOLE town centre restaurant closed down after an inspection by environmental health officers in March, has reopened under new management.

The Real China restaurant at the Dolphin Centre is now the Real China Express and has opened its doors again following structural alterations and refurbishment to help staff maintain cleanliness standards.

Ventilation and dish washing systems have been serviced and upgraded.

A number of complaints had been received from diners and the council’s investigation revealed dirty food preparation and storage areas, a kitchen in poor structural condition, unsafe food handling and blocked drainage to a sink.

“We are very pleased with the progress made to hygiene standards in the restaurant, and the willingness of the new manager to work with us to ensure that standards are improved,” said Peter Haikin, Borough of Poole regulatory services manager.

Spiridon Levi, the restaurant’s new manager, told the Daily Echo: “We have invested a great deal of time and effort into making sure that the restaurant meets the standards required. “We look forward to now maintaining these standards and hope that the community will come and see the improvements that have been made.”
