A PENSIONER has appeared at court following an incident in which a barman was allegedly driven along the streets of Southbourne on the bonnet of a car.

Anthony Lee, 73, of Redhill Drive in Bournemouth, denies one count of dangerous driving and one of assault by beating in relation to an incident on January 8 this year.

It is alleged in the incident, Paul Malin, who is employed at the Grove Tavern, was carried along Southbourne Road, Wentworth Avenue and Dingle Road on the bonnet of a Subaru vehicle.

Lee appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday, where he denied both charges. He was released on unconditional bail to appear again for a trial on September 10.
