PUPILS have been putting pen to paper to raise money for their new school buildings.

Pupils and teachers at Bethany Junior School in Bournemouth were invited to write poems for a book Voices from the Classroom.

From aliens and rockets, to anger and bin men, the 100-plus page book is packed with their carefully-crafted work.

It also features poems from children at St Clement's and St John's Infant School and illustrations from the children.

Bethany Junior School has undergone a transformation in the last year, with the building of new classrooms, a new ICT suite and library. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Bethany Building Fund.

Teaching assistant and member of the Friends of Bethany and St Clement's, Janet Lewis said: "We took a lot of the poems from the classroom and some wrote their own at home. When they saw the book they were all very excited."

The book costs £5 and is available from the school office.
