AUTHOR and academic Germaine Greer is set to give a free lecture at Bournemouth University.

She will be at the first Women’s Academic Network open lecture on Monday, May 19, from 1-3pm, at the university’s Talbot Campus.

The Australian-born writer achieved worldwide success with her 1970 book The Female Eunuch and became a major voice in feminism.

Her other works include Sex and Destiny: The Politics of Human Fertility, The Change: Women, Ageing and the Menopause and The Whole Woman.

She recently told a BBC documentary that women were worse off than ever because of the proliferation of online pornography and the abuse they had to endure via social media. She said sites such as Twitter had become a forum for ‘the loathing of women’.

Dr Greer was also in the news when it was announced that her lifetime archive would be transferred to the University of Melbourne.

Places at the lecture are free but must be booked at wangermainegreer.eventbrite.co.uk.
