Golden Dragon Palace in Bournemouth opens again after 'thorough clean'

Bournemouth Echo: Chinese takeaway allowed to re-open after 'thorough clean' Chinese takeaway allowed to re-open after 'thorough clean'

A CHINESE takeaway closed down on food hygiene grounds has been allowed to re-open after a “thorough clean.”

The Golden Dragon Palace in Northbourne was closed by council inspectors on Friday night after they found dirty food preparation and storage areas.

Inspectors returned to the premises in Wimborne Road yesterday and allowed managers to begin trading again.

Louise Jones, Food and Health & Safety Manager for Bournemouth Borough Council said: “Officers visited yesterday to carry out a further inspection of the business. The premises had been thoroughly cleaned and the business has been allowed to re-open.

“We are working closely with the proprietor and further visits will be carried out and the business will be closely monitored to ensure that it is kept clean and complies with food hygiene legislation.”

Hi Azphreal, I don't think it matters if they are notified or not of any checks, I think it could be better for them to understand that En Health is closely monitoring them and realise that they have to keep the standards up rather than a one off clean and then let things slide again.
I think as others feel that I would be very wary of buying from them until I was sure that the standards are being met!

Just avoid until they close down. The state that the kitchen was in I think they woukld have needed more than a week to clean it. Keep avoiding everyone as this is still only at a 1 star standars which is only just acceptable to reopen.

What's the betting that after a few inspections in quick succession, they get nothing for two years and the place is found to be in a right state again? These silly points score ratings are utterly meaningless unless the premises are inspected very regularly, and even then they aren't the be-all and end-all. Tidy papers don't make a clean kitchen, and a poor score doesn't always mean the place is bad. I know a business who scored a '1' when they were inspected, because they didn't have at least a week's worth of records for their cleaning of the fridges, etc. They'd only been open a day!

They were warned and allowed to carry on trading. They are then closed due to poor hygiene and now allowed to reopen. Isn't it obvious some people are just lazy and unhygienic and old habits die hard. Do you really believe they will wash their hands after using the toilet. Somehow I don't think so.
