A man was rescued from the sea in the early hours of Wednesday morning after jumping from Bournemouth Pier.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 1am but despite negotiations between the man and police officers, he leapt into the water from the railings.
He was then thrown a lifebelt and brought back to shore by a lifeboat where he received medical treatment from paramedics.
The man was later taken to hospital suffering from the effects of exposure.
