Hotel Miramar was an Edwardian mansion house and retains many of its original featured. It has recently introduced Nespresso coffee machines and i-dockers as well as free WiFi throughout.

It was favoured by Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien for its ocean views It is owned by the Blakemore family.

Mr Bailey said: “The hotel inspector even commented that some aspects of Hotel Miramar were akin to five-star, such as our concierge and porterage service.
