A SERIES of events are being held in Southbourne in support of Dementia Awareness Week.

Sunrise Senior Living of Southbourne has joined forces with the Southbourne-on-Sea Business Association to host a special evening at the community on May 22, from 6pm to 8pm, to hear about the work Sunrise does for those with memory loss.

Dementia specialist Lynne Petty will discuss the new enrichment programme for residents, and providing an insight to anyone with a loved one suffering from dementia.

Guests can also enjoy refreshments and live music, and there will be a raffle and a collection for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Ray Woodill, director of community relations and member of Southourne-on-Sea Business Association, said: “Dementia is a hugely important issue, with over 800,000 people living with the condition in the UK. Our events throughout the week will highlight how we can support those with the condition.”

A range of other talks on dementia will be held from Monday, May 19 to Friday, May 23.
