TRADING standards officers have welcomed the jail term handed down to rogue roofer Danny Sherwood, pictured.
The 30-year-old, from Wimborne Road, was imprisoned for nine months on Friday.
He was convicted of ripping off a vulnerable 73-year-old woman after he carried out unnecessary work on her chimney and charged her more than £2,000.
The offences came to light when the victim approached Borough of Poole trading standards.
Regulatory team manager James Norman said: “We are pleased with this sentence.
“It sends a clear message to those people who seek to defraud members of our community that trading standards will come after you and bring you to justice.”
Council cabinet member Cllr Xena Dion added: “This is a horrible crime against a vulnerable member of our community.
“We are committed to protecting all our residents from unscrupulous rogue traders and this clearly demonstrates that they are not welcome to operate here in Poole.”
