A DEDICATED charity shop worker is on her way to Buckingham Palace to have tea with the Queen.

Pam Campbell, who has volunteered at the Sue Ryder charity shop in Highcliffe for 26 years, was selected to represent the charity’s volunteers at a garden party on May 21.

The 80-year-old, who lives in Highcliffe, said: “I was very surprised to get the letter inviting me to the Palace, obviously very flattered and quite excited about going.

“I’m looking forward to representing the good crowd of volunteers that we have.”

Pam, who has seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild said she enjoyed working at the Highcliffe shop and hoped to notch up many more years of volunteering. “I like meeting people and generally helping out. You feel you are doing a little bit of good, however small.”

Jane McKeown-Luckly, the shop’s manager, said: “Pam’s fantastic, she does all our window dressing with our donated goods and does a wonderful job.

“She’s been a huge support to the charity because she’s been with us for so long.

“We’re thrilled to pieces for her that she’s been recognised and proud that she’s been given this opportunity.

“When you think of how many volunteers are working in Sue Ryder shops and hospices, it’s a big honour to be chosen.”
