AFC Bournemouth player Elliott Ward visited Kingsleigh Primary School to teach pupils about the importance of a healthy lifestyle as part of a joint initiative with LV=.

The Cherries’ Community Sports Trust has worked with 10 schools over the course of the academic year to highlight the value of regular exercise and a balanced diet.

Each school involved in the scheme has received two sessions, with one theory-based lesson followed by a coaching session run by Trust staff.

The project also includes a competition encouraging pupils to design a healthy menu for the Cherries squad, with the winner helping to prepare and serve lunch to Eddie Howe’s team.

“The healthy lifestyle initiative is a project that we believe can shape pupils’ lives for the better,” said AFCB Trust chief Steve Cuss.

“We have devised a scheme that both informs and engages with youngsters, and all the children involved have really enjoyed the sessions and taken something valuable from them.

“It’s great to have the backing of LV=, which is one of the biggest companies in the local area, for this project and I’m sure their support will ensure the project is a success.”

Samantha Preece, corporate social responsibility manager at LV=, added: “We’re always keen to support charities and good causes in our community.

“I’m delighted that our Bournemouth employees have chosen to get behind this positive initiative and encourage children to develop a healthy lifestyle.”
