Giant jellyfish washes up on Dorset beach as experts warn of possible invasion

THE predicted hot weather for the UK could bring an influx of giant jellyfish into the seas and beaches around the coasts.

A huge barrel jellyfish has already been washed up at Portland in Dorset.

Richard Harrington from the Marine Conservation Society said: “This predicted hot weather to come can mean that even more jellyfish are likely to wash up or be in the seas around places like the west-country”.

“Although this species is harmless their numbers are likely to grow fairly quickly as sea temperatures rise. We are very keen to hear from people that find any washed up anywhere around the country. This is an Atlantic species and are sometimes found washed up but still advise the public not to touch them”.

Local resident Suzanne Sheldon reported the find to the MCS and said “I came across this massive jellyfish as I took my dog for a walk on a quiet beach at Portland, it was at least three feet in width and was very bulky too. It was the largest jellyfish I have ever seen”.

Hot weather is never forecast for the UK because it never exceeds 35C. 20C is by no means hot.

Are bananas all one size then?

What do you put next to the banana for scale, an apple?

Also it does say it was about 3 feet diameter.

What a genius!

Only reasons I might vote for UKIP is a sensible cap, via a points system, on immigration & maybe a chance to wrestle some of our autonomy back from EU.

All their other 'policies' are Tory just more obscene & nasty.
